Our facility, located in Sandwich, IL, is strategically positioned to efficiently ship products to both coasts. Built in 2018, our state-of-the-art facility adheres to rigorous food safety standards, earning us an excellent SQF score that reflects our commitment to producing safe, high-quality products. John Steinwart founded Meadowvale in 1967 in Joliet, IL. Most of our customer base were Dairy Queens in the local area. His nephew, Steve Steinwart began at Meadowvale in 1987 after leaving a career with International Dairy Queen in Mississippi. Steve worked in sales for a short amount of time before he became General Manager in 1990. Meadowvale also moved to Yorkville, IL. In the early 90’s, John evaluated options for Meadowvale, including selling the business. John decided to sell the company to the employees.
In 1991, Meadowvale officially became an ESOP. Sadly, John passed away in 1993. Steve then became President of Meadowvale, a position which he held for the next 30 years.
Our Yorkville location was located on Beaver Street in Yorkville, where we operated for many years. At one point, we even managed our own delivery fleet, with trucks and drivers handling mix and topping deliveries to local accounts. Eventually, we sold the resale/delivery part of the business to another local distributor (Fox Valley Farms) who now delivers our mix to local accounts. This helped us focus on what we do best: make the highest quality mix possible!
